U.S. first lady Laura Bush arrived in Haiti Thursday for meetings with President Rene Preval and a visit to an HIV/AIDS clinic.
Bush is also scheduled to meet with officials in the Haitian capital from the U.S. Agency for International Development, The Miami Herald reported Thursday.
It is the first visit for Bush to the impoverished Caribbean nation.
From Haiti, the first lady is scheduled to travel to Mexico for the inauguration of a joint U.S.-Mexican partnership on breast cancer research.
