Moldova alongside Ukraine and Russia is the country with the highest rate of HIV/AIDS virus spreading among the ex-soviet countries, DECA-press Agency transmits. According to „World Youth Report 2007", elaborated by UNO, around 1,1% of Moldovan citizens, aged from 15 to 49 are infected with HIV virus. The report points out that the total number of HIV people aged above 15 was around 28 thousand in 2005 which is 20% more than in 2003. The UNO report shows that the number of infected people is with 10% bigger than the official estimation of the Moldovan authorities. The authors of this study look at this phenomenon as a calamity for the young people from Moldova as well as from the Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of the Independent Stated. The official statistics says that there are about 3,4 thousand people infected with HIV.
